FOLLOWING on from recent anti social activities by young teenagers in various estates in Ratoath after the last number of weekends, local councillor Nick Killian has called for a greater visible Garda presence in the village.
Killian said "I have been receiving many complaints from residents in various estates over the last four weeks of anti-social behaviour which appears to be coming from a gang of young teenagers of boys and girls, who have been making a general nuisance by knocking on doors, throwing stones, abusive language, kicking balls against walls, among other nasty behaviour. "I have over the years called for a visible on-street Garda presence rather than Garda cars driving though the village.I simply cannot understand as to why Gardai cannot walk around the village into our estates and build up a rapport with our teenagers. Whilst only a tiny percentage of teenagers create the problems, we are entitled to a better police service for the 10,000 residents that live in the village where we do not have a police station. This is for senior Garda management in the Ashbourne district to make a practical strategic decision to place a on street Garda presence for a certain number of hours during the week and at weekends."
