St Peter’s College celebrates 20 years with community fun day

Aisling McWeeney with Joan, Anna, James and Tadhg Riordan.

St Peter’s College, Dunboyne, opened its doors to the community on Sunday, 11th May, to celebrate the school’s 20th anniversary.

When the school opened in 1994, there were 70 students on the roll, with the secondary school and Dunboyne College of Further Education now accommodating more than 1400.

Parents, teachers, students past and present, and members of the wider community joined in the festivities. Bouncy castles, face-painting, a games room and a disco entertained the young children and there were food stalls, a cake sale for Aoibheann’s Pink Tie charity and a stage with lots musical talent to keep the atmosphere buzzing.

Work was on display in classrooms and the school garden showed off the talents of the horticulture students. Past pupils examined the year group photos on display to see could they recognise their younger selves.

An anniversary book is being published later in the year and a celebration of the school’s musical tradition will take place in December.
