Meath football star added to local election ticket

Joe Sheridan will be seeking a seat in the new Ashbourne Electoral Area.

Former Meath football captain Joe Sheridan has been selected to run for local election in the Ashbourne area for Fianna Fail after being added to the party ticket this week.

Sheridan had been earmarked to run for the party in the Kells Electoral Area, which is hosting its convention tonight, but has instead been put forward in the Ashbourne area, which includes his home area of Kentstown.

Already selected to run in the Ashbourne area are Dr Claire O'Driscoll, also of Kenstown, and Ashbourne man Sean Smith. The area, which has six seats, will be broken up into three districts within the party, with each candidate responsible for an area.
